Received a call today from a customer reporting that his property management company was reporting that the front door handle would not work.
After taking off and inspecting the handle, Kwikset (newer) now uses a plastic spindle and is prone to splitting and the locking mechanism can't grab hold.
Always expect this to happen with this poor design. This is easily fixed by purchasing a new handle or swapping out the spindle with an older ( and more reliable) metal one.
